Message The old hose on my pump appeared to be in good shape too but it had lost all it's strength.

Another thing to check as you noted earlier is the pump controller. Although it's rare there have been cases where something inside it burns up. Since you have the panels off you should be able to see it down behind the driver's seat, take it out and open it up to look for damage.

Have you tried hotwiring the fuel pump for a full 12 volts to see if that solves the problem? If you search there are more detailed instructions but you run a fused wire right off the battery to the wire with the purple stripe (I think) and ground the black wire. These are in the large plug with three blades in it coming off the pump bulkhead. The 3rd wire (blue I think) is left alone. You just have to clamp female spade connectors so you can plug onto the male spades. And of course be carful not to let them touch, lol. I taped over the outside of the spade connectors. Then go for a drive, if running a full 12 volts to the pump solves the problem there are still a different possible causes. Rule them out one at a time. It is generally agreed upon that it's extreemely rare for the OEM pump to fail.
